Government Voucher Scheme

The voucher offers up to £500 per case to help cover the cost of family mediation sessions. Its designed to encourage families to resolve issues around children and parenting arrangements without going to court.

If you’re eligible, the government will contribute up to £500 towards the cost of family mediation.

Legal Aid:

If you’re on a low income or benefits, you might qualify for Legal Aid, which can cover the full cost of mediation (including MIAMs and documents). Unfortunately, The Mediation House does not currently offer Legal Aid.

What does it cover?

The voucher can be used to help pay for meditation sessions about:

Child arrangements:

For example, where your child will live and the time spent with each parent.

Parent decisions after separation:

Schooling, holidays, routines.

Linked financial matters:

Some financial issues if they are related to children.

It does not cover the cost of the initial MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting).

Who is eligible?

You’re attending mediation about children.

Your case involved a discussion about children and finances.

Your mediator will evaluate your eligibility during the MIAM and will apply for the voucher on your behalf. You don’t need to fill out a separate application.
