Mediator’s Certificate

A Mediator’s Certificate is a formal document issued by an accredited family mediator immediately following a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM).

In most family law cases, you must attend a MIAM before applying to court for matters such as child arrangements or financial disputes.

If mediation is not suitable or does not resolve the dispute, the mediator will issue this certificate, allowing you to proceed with court applications, including:

  • Child Arrangements (Form C100): decisions about where a child lives or spends time
  • Property and Financial Orders (Form A): resolving disputes over finances or property ownership

The Mediator’s Certificate confirms:

    • Your attendance at the MIAM
    • Whether mediation is suitable for your situation
    • It is issued electronically immediately after the MIAM
