Cost
We understand that cost is an important factor when choosing the right support during separation or divorce. Family mediation is often significantly more affordable than going to court, and we aim to keep things as clear and accessible as possible.
Typically, the cost of mediation is shared equally between both parties, helping to keep expenses manageable.
MIAM Mediation
£130 pp
This is the first step before starting meditation or submitting a court application. It involves a private session with a trained mediator to explore your options and determine whether mediation is suitable.
Mediation Sessions
£130 pp | per hour
Mediation sessions usually last 1.5 hours. The number of sessions depends on what you need to resolve. Many clients reach an agreement within 2 to 4 sessions.
Government Voucher Scheme
If your case involves child arrangements, you may be eligible for a £500 government mediation voucher. We’ll assess this at your MIAM and apply on your behalf if you are eligible.
Child Inclusive Mediation
Costed on a case-by-case basis. The government voucher scheme can be utilised to provide funding for child-inclusive mediation.

Legal Aid:
If you’re on a low income or benefits, you might qualify for Legal Aid, which can cover the full cost of mediation (including MIAMs and documents). Unfortunately, The Mediation House does not currently offer Legal Aid.
Please use this link to find a Legal Aid mediation service that could help you moving forward. Tick the box “Provides mediation funded by legal aid” in ‘Refine Your Search’.
